This Season Balwyn Cricket Club will continue its strong commitment to Junior Cricket by fielding teams in the Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 17s as well as running a Master Blasters Team for children aged 7 to 10.
The club has excellent facilities and coaching for juniors, which has inevitably led to large numbers of boys representing the Club in the seniors.
Training is at Gordon Barnard Reserve and our home grounds are at Balwyn Park.
The Junior teams play in the Eastern Cricket Association (ECA) competition, which is the largest Junior Cricket competition in Australia.
In order for your child to have the opportunity to play in a properly organised and supervised team, we require your assistance in some form or another. Our initial requirement is for team managers for each of the teams. Obviously this represents a commitment for the whole season and understandably may be difficult for some parents.
There are, however, a number of other areas in which you can be of assistance, including transport to away games, umpiring, scoring and assistance with training and coaching. Such tasks only need to be performed by each player's parents two or three times a year to ensure the smooth running of the teams.
Naturally, players and coaches alike will appreciate just supporting your child's team.
The safety of all players is of utmost importance to the club and rules are enforced by the Association and our Club to best ensure player safety. An example of this is that Under 10 and Under 12 players must wear a helmet whilst batting, either playing or training.
