The Club continues to receive guidelines from VSDCA / Cricket Victoria in relation to COVID related issues. One of the revised recommendations recently received is as follows:
For the remainder of this season, clubs not to hold any indoor functions. If you have a social function planned, consider whether it can be held outdoors rather than an indoor function. The CV attachment outlines ‘Best Practice’ is to stay outdoors and ‘Good Practice’ spend less than 15 minutes indoors.
As you know, we have planned our Centenary Function on 19 February 2022, which was booked to be held in the Long Room at the MCG. The function would obviously be held indoors. We have reconsidered the viability of the Centenary Function given the revised guidelines from our cricketing governing bodies, and the COVID environment more generally.
The Club has decided to postpone the Centenary Function for the following reasons:
The Club has agreed with the MCG to postpone the Centenary Function to a convenient date, which is presently planned to be at the beginning of next cricket season (ie October / November 2022). We will provide further details when a date is finalised.
The Club acknowledges that some members have already purchase tickets to the Centenary Function, and that members had made plans for the evening. We regret that it is necessary to postpone the Function in those circumstances, and apologise for any inconvenience caused.
Those who have already purchased tickets have the option of "rolling over" their ticket to the postponed date, or (alternatively) a refund can be arranged. If you have purchased a ticket, and would like a refund, then please contact Jake Gordon or me.
Thanks for your understanding.
