The Balwyn Cricket Club is delighted to announce the appointment of Lachlan Fitzpatrick as 1st XI Captain for season 2020/2021.
Lachlan returns to the Club after a period of three seasons of Premier Cricket. During that time, Lachlan played a combined total of 29 Premier 1st XI games for the Richmond and Northcote Cricket Clubs. Lachlan is an excellent "all round" cricketer. He is a frugal off spin bowler, effective middle order batsman, and an outstanding fielder.
Long standing members of the Club will already be very familiar with Lachlan. He played Craig Shield for Balwyn in 2008/2009, and then eight subsequent seasons of senior cricket with the Club in his development years.
Lachlan has already tallied 43 1st XI games with Balwyn, the most recent of which was the Club's successful Grand Final side of 2016/2017. He was a key member of that team as evidenced by his 38 wickets across the premiership winning season.
More recently, Lachlan has developed his leadership skills as coach of the Balwyn Craig Shield team. He led that side very capably to the competition's Grand Final in 2019/2020.
As 1st XI Captain, Lachlan will work closely with current Club Coach, Clinton Kennon. The Club is equally pleased that Clinton will continue in his role, and thanks Clinton for his outstanding ongoing service.
The Committee are confident that we now have in place an excellent on-field leadership team that will build on the gains of the season just gone, and lead the Club to success in the future.
